A small coastal town with a rather unique location built on a hill nestling in the foothills of The Sierra Bernia Mountains and dominating the bay of Altea. The old town has been preserved to provide the ambience of by-gone days with narrow cobbled streets winding up to the blue domed church and square poised on a plateau at the highest point. A place so steeped in character that it has been a haven for artists over the years.
The new section of the town has been built to complement the old with a selection of fine shops and excellent restaurants in both the old and new sections. A mixture of sandy and pebble beaches with a very pleasant tree-lined promenade, a first class Nautical Club and Marina.
For golfers the Club de Golf Don Cavo and two new courses currently being constructed in the area.
